The entire Pueblo family is pleased to congratulate Mr. DeWeerdt on his next position as an educator. He made the following announcement this morning:
Dear Faculty & Staff,
It is with mixed emotions that I share the following announcement with you. Last night, the TUSD Governing Board approved my selection as Principal of Mansfeld Middle School. Pueblo has been my home for 19 years. The idea of leaving has been very difficult for me but I am excited to start a new chapter in my life. I have been given an opportunity to serve a school that I believe is a great fit for me where I can continue to grow as an educator. I look forward to sharing more information with you in the days to come as we work together to bring this school year to a successful end.

Congratulations Pablo! I’m sad and pleased at the same time to see you move on.
Red (played by Morgan Freeman) in the movie Shawshanks Redemption best describes what I feel, he said about his friend Andy: “I have to remind myself that some birds aren’t meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up DOES rejoice. Still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they’re gone. I guess I just miss my friend.”
There is no doubt in my mind you will transition into this new chapter of your life smoothly, exactly the way you always handled yourself! Believe it or not, I’ve learned so much in just watching how and what you do. I’m going to miss you!
Thank you for all you’ve given to Pueblo! A piece of Pueblo will always be a part of you as you will always be a part of Pueblo.

The Warriors weep as the Mansfeld Bulldogs salivate at the news of Paul’s new adventure. I will miss his summer stories at our back to school meeting, his incredible support for school counselors, and always wanting the best for our students! Go get dawg! 🙂
