FTA Students Volunteer Like MADD

Future Educators of Arizona students attended the “Walk Like MADD” (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) event at Reid Park on Saturday, March 19.

Students volunteered at the hospitality tent, organizing the walkers’ gift bags, and in the Kids’ Area.

Pueblo Student Is Champion Of The Homeless

Alvaro Oquita, a sophomore and a member of the National Honor Society volunteers every Sunday from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Casa Maria Soup Kitchen on 3rd Av. and 26th.

His work feeds about 300 homeless people.  The supervisors marvel at his work ethic, dependability, and initiative.

Alvaro said, “it’s a very rewarding feeling to serve the community this way.” He encourages anyone willing to volunteer to talk to him or contact Casa Maria for more information.
