Biotech Students Learn Sterile Technique

Sam Gomez of the Tucson Medical Center stopped by Pueblo to provide some hands on training on sterile technique to some of our Biotechnology students.

In sterile technique, only sterile surfaces touch other sterile surfaces and exposure to the air is kept to a minimum.

Tricia Hindley and Michael Dedrick need to learn this technique for their upcoming Biotechnology competition for HOSA. We’ll keep you updated on how they do.

We are so appreciative of Mr. Gomez’s expertise and commitment to our students.

Culinary Arts Program

Four students at Pueblo are taking part in a Culinary Arts Program through JTED. These students travel to Santa Rita every Tuesday & Thursday each week to attend culinary classes.

As part of a counselor outreach program, they recently served breakfast on 3 occasions for about 60 guests. They would prepare a menu for each session and purchase ingredients accordingly. Cooking would begin before sunrise at 6:00 a.m. in order to have food ready for our guests.

On this occasion the menu included: chilaquiles topped with queso fresco, scrambled eggs with nopalitos, frijoles, tortillas and a chilled glass of orange juice or coffee.

We look forward to more events hosted by these students as they move forward towards their career as Chefs.

Pueblo Robotics Team Wins Again

The Pueblo High Robotics Club won big at the Arizona Vex Robotic Tournament this weekend at Sahurita High School.

Pueblo’s “Robotic Asylum” Robotic Club entered four robots in the Operation Desert Duel at Sahurita High School. The team won 1st, 2nd, & 3rd & 8th place of eighteen teams entered. Though the competition was tough, it was made more interesting for our team when we battled each other for the top three spots!

Fire Science Class

Warriors interested in a career as a Firefighter or E.M.T. should enroll in Fire Science Class. A beginner and advanced class are available. We had a chance to see them in action as they practiced how to run water lines and practice firing the nozzle.

Take a look:

If you are interested in this class, talk to Chief Smith in Room T4.
