Boys Basketball Wins The Marana Classic Basketball Tournament

Congratulations to Boy’s Varsity Basketball team for winning the Marana Classic basketball tournament this past weekend.

In games #1, Pueblo avenged an earlier season loss to the Mustang’s of Sahuarita High School with a 61-50 victory.

Game #2 pitted the Warriors against Agua Fria High School. By controlling tempo and out rebounding their opponent, the Warriors defeated the 3rd ranked Owls 73-65.

Game #3, with Pueblo’s 2nd leading scorer Stephen Ponce injured on the bench, the Warriors found themselves at a height disadvantage against a huge team from Melbourne, Australia. Refusing to back down against a front line of 6’8’, 6’7” and 6’6” the Warriors lost their only game of the tournament in OT, 53-52.

In the final game of the tournament, Pueblo faced an undefeated Tucson High team. Behind a solid team effort, Pueblo skinned the Badgers of Tucson High 65-55; thus, winning the tournament.

Special congratulations go out to Mike Perez for leading all scorers with 92 points; a 23 pt. per game average.

Thanks to all those who have supported us this season. We look forward to seeing you at our two games this week: Tuesday, at home against Douglas and on Wednesday at Catalina. (Full Schedule)

Don’t forget to support the Lady Warriors this weekend during the 16th Annual Santa Cruz “Shoot-Out,” Thursday – Saturday in the Lever Gymnasium.

Tour De Tucson 2008

Road Warriors at the Finish Line
Road Warriors at the Finish Line

Every year our Road Warriors participate in the Tour de Tucson. We were well represented in this years race on November 22, with two groups participating in the 33-mile and 66-mile start lines. Pueblo students and teachers trained together for this event by organizing weekend bike rides.

As one of the few high schools that take part in this Tucson event, we are proud of all of you that represented Pueblo High by completing your route.
