{"id":1979,"date":"2014-10-23T13:35:26","date_gmt":"2014-10-23T20:35:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pueblowarriors.org\/blog\/?p=1979"},"modified":"2014-10-29T10:51:32","modified_gmt":"2014-10-29T17:51:32","slug":"warriors-welcome-new-assistant-principal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pueblowarriors.org\/blog\/2014\/10\/warriors-welcome-new-assistant-principal\/","title":{"rendered":"Warriors Welcome New Assistant Principal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Anais Salais<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pueblowarriors.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Alma-Carmona-Alday-Pueblo-High-School.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[1979]\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" title=\"Alma Carmona Alday Pueblo High School\" src=\"https:\/\/pueblowarriors.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Alma-Carmona-Alday-Pueblo-High-School-366x550.jpg\" alt=\"\" height=\"250\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Pueblo Magnet High School welcomes a new member to the administration team this year, Ms. Alma Carmona-Alday, who is the new Assistant Principal of Community, Advanced Learning and Academic Associated Projects.<\/p>\n<p>This is Carmona-Alday\u2019s first assistant principal position, and with her strong background in education in teaching kindergarten\u2014as well as being a learning support coordinator for TUSD at McCorkle K-8\u2014she said that she feels ready to make a positive impact at Pueblo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel really welcomed and I am excited to be here!\u201d said Carmona-Alday. \u201cI love being in the classrooms and at the lunches because it gives me the chance to get to know the students better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Carmona-Alday was born and raised here in Tucson. She attended Davis Elementary, Utterback Middle School and Tucson High Magnet School. She earned two bachelor\u2019s degrees from the University of Arizona in bilingual education and Spanish, as well as two master\u2019s degrees from Northern Arizona University\u2014in school counseling and educational leadership.<\/p>\n<p>Even though she is very busy with her duties as an assistant principal, Carmona-Alday said that she enjoys dancing and even was a Zumba instructor at Desert View High School.<\/p>\n<p>She admitted that she always loved dancing, and for many years, she thought that she would become a full-time dance teacher.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter I earned my administrative degree, I found out that Pueblo didn&#8217;t have a dance teacher for a while, and I was hoping to become long-term substitute teacher\u2014but I couldn&#8217;t because all of the work I was involved with as an administrator,\u201d Carmona-Alday said.<\/p>\n<p>Her husband is a teacher at Sunnyside High School, and they have two children, ages three and five.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wwouldn&#8217;t have gotten where I am now without my husband and family,\u201d said Carmona-Alday.<\/p>\n<p>Carmona-Alday has a positive outlook on this school year and the future of Pueblo that she aims to be a part of.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI never thought I would love Pueblo so much,\u201d she said. \u201cI hope to be here for a long period of time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She admitted that she is very ambitious and that her goal is to one day become a principal.
