Many euphemisms are used for death, la calaca (the skeleton), la pelona (\u201cbaldy\u201d), la flaca (\u201cthe skinny\u201d), and la huesada (\u201cbony\u201d). One student, junior Ana Lopez, said, \u201cMs. [Cathy] Gastelum really taught us a lot about this holiday. I learned mostly that we should always mourn our lost loved ones, and this holidays is an easy way to mourn those who have passed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another junior, Anamim Yarisa, also in Ms. Gastelum\u2019s classroom, said, \u201cEverybody should reflect on those who have passed.
