On Oct. 10, Pueblo\u2019s boys and girls basketball hosted the first annual Burney Starks Alumni Game. Along with Assistant Principal Frank Rosthenhausler, former coaches and athletes participated against current athletes.<\/p>\n

Starks passed shortly after the end of the last school year, and as a Warrior who graduated in 1968, he always strived to make things better, and it was always a dream of Starks for alumni to play against current players.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe thought we\u2019d pay homage to Starks,\u201d Rosthenhausler said, \u201cand we organized this game to bridge the gap between the alumni and current students.\u201d<\/p>\n

There were about 20 alumni players at the game, and they played our current boys\u2019 basketball team during the first half and played against our current girls\u2019 basketball team during the second half.<\/p>\n

Senior Danielle Orozco said, \u201cThe game was fun because it was something that I\u2019ve never really done before. Plus, it was a really touching thing to do for Burney.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rosthenhausler said this was a great event, and he\u2019s happy to see future, current, and alumni faces all enjoying the same activity.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
