Students must be at least 18 years old by Nov. 1 to be eligible to vote in this year\u2019s election.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/pueblowarriors.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Voting-Registration-At-Pueblo-High-School-2016.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[2543]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2544\" src=\"https:\/\/pueblowarriors.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Voting-Registration-At-Pueblo-High-School-2016-550x411.jpg\" alt=\"voting-registration-at-pueblo-high-school-2016\" width=\"550\" height=\"411\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pueblowarriors.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Voting-Registration-At-Pueblo-High-School-2016-550x411.jpg 550w, https:\/\/pueblowarriors.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Voting-Registration-At-Pueblo-High-School-2016-500x374.jpg 500w, https:\/\/pueblowarriors.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Voting-Registration-At-Pueblo-High-School-2016-768x574.jpg 768w, https:\/\/pueblowarriors.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Voting-Registration-At-Pueblo-High-School-2016.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ms. Cheri Bludau, a volunteer voter registrar, has been going to other high schools in the Tucson area, including Santa Rita, Palo Verde and Catalina, to encourage students and their schools\u2019 communities to register to vote. There is a competition among the four schools to get the highest number of registered voters, and at last count on Thursday afternoon, Pueblo was far in the lead.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s very important for our young people to become involved in the political process,\u201d Bludau said. \u201cAfter all, they are the future America, and they need to be aware of the policies that shape their state and their country now\u2014and to decide whether or not to make changes to their state and their country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Mary Wallace, social studies and economics teacher, organized this event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis [voter registration] is real,\u201d Wallace said. \u201cIt doesn\u2019t make much sense to teach government and economics to students without putting some \u2018real world\u2019 activities and engagement out there for our students.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One student who registered, \u201cDioney Corona, a senior, said, \u201cI can\u2019t wait to vote on November eighth. I am going to do my part to ensure that Trump doesn\u2019t even come close to becoming the next president of the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wallace added that\u2014along with support from other teachers\u2014she will stage a \u201cmock\u201d election for all students on Election Day, Nov. 8.
