Waking up and getting here are definite challenges, but earning high grades motivates me the most.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Freshman Alyssa Soza echoed Prado.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m committed to high grades,\u201d Soza said, \u201cand that means having perfect attendance so that I don\u2019t miss anything in the classroom.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gunnels said she hopes seniors\u2014the class with the worst attendance during the first quarter\u2014take their last year of high school seriously, and to \u201ckill\u201d the \u201csenioritis\u201d bug now.<\/p>\n<p>Teachers, too, have been receiving \u201cPerfect Attendance\u201d certificates\u2014a message from administrators that teachers are definitely appreciated, too, for their commitment to being here every day.<\/p>\n<p>In October, another 214 Warriors achieved perfect attendance; in November, however, the number of students with perfect attendance dropped drastically\u2014to just 150.<\/p>\n<p>Gunnels said that she does not speculate why there was a dramatic drop from October to November.<\/p>\n<p>Learning Support Coordinator Ms. Sarah Barnes, a new employee to Pueblo this school year, distributed these certificates to teachers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTeachers should definitely be rewarded for their stellar attendance, too,\u201d Barnes said. \u201cIt says a lot about our educators when they are here every day.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>by Arlie Kontic Beginning this school year, Pueblo High School administrators will honor students who have perfect attendance in an effort to encourage students to be present every day.
