{"id":3088,"date":"2018-09-14T14:28:48","date_gmt":"2018-09-14T21:28:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pueblowarriors.org\/blog\/?p=3088"},"modified":"2018-09-14T14:29:05","modified_gmt":"2018-09-14T21:29:05","slug":"class-of-2022-freshmen-endure-first-quarter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pueblowarriors.org\/blog\/2018\/09\/class-of-2022-freshmen-endure-first-quarter\/","title":{"rendered":"Class Of 2022 Freshmen Endure First Quarter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Getsemani Cazares &amp; Sophia Shivers<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3089\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3089\" style=\"width: 550px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/pueblowarriors.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Pueblo-High-School-Class-Of-2022.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[3088]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3089 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/pueblowarriors.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Pueblo-High-School-Class-Of-2022-550x323.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"323\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pueblowarriors.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Pueblo-High-School-Class-Of-2022-550x323.jpg 550w, https:\/\/pueblowarriors.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Pueblo-High-School-Class-Of-2022-500x294.jpg 500w, https:\/\/pueblowarriors.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Pueblo-High-School-Class-Of-2022-768x451.jpg 768w, https:\/\/pueblowarriors.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Pueblo-High-School-Class-Of-2022.jpg 972w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3089\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Class of 2022 Warriors: William Santos, Tanya Rivera &amp; Daidryan Mendivil (L to R)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Thursday, Aug. 2, 2018, wasn&#8217;t just the first day for nearly 1,850 students but the first day for incoming freshmen (the Class of 2022), ready to experience their first year of high school at Pueblo.<\/p>\n<p>This year, Pueblo can boast 444 freshmen; that number is up from last year, when we had 410 freshmen, according to Ms. Rachel Apalategui, Pueblo\u2019s registrar.<\/p>\n<p>One new Pueblo freshman, Marie Romero, attended Hollinger K-8 during her middle school years and admitted that she is prepared for her high school experience.<\/p>\n<p>Romero said, \u201cI\u2019m looking forward to passing and surviving my freshman year without any distractions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another Warrior freshman, William Santos, who attended Roberts Naylor K-8 school, said that he had no fear when it came to attending Pueblo.<\/p>\n<p>Santos said, \u201cI\u2019m focusing on getting good grades and making the boys\u2019 varsity basketball team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tanya Rivera, also from the Class of 2022, also attended Hollinger K-8, said that she is currently getting the high school vibe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI look forward to learning how to play the flute and making new friends,\u201d Rivera said.<\/p>\n<p>Freshman Jesus Romero attended Pistor Middle School prior to officially becoming a Warrior, and he said that he had a very exciting first day as a high school student.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy plan is to earn good grades the entire year and be a part of the Pueblo High School wrestling team,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Daidryan Mendivil, who graduated from South Gate Middle School last spring, said the he had an easy transition from middle school to high school. Mendivil said that he plans to stay committed to a few sports and clubs. In fact, he already joined TRIO, a club that focuses on students\u2019 collegiate futures.<\/p>\n<p>Mendivil said, \u201cI\u2019ll admit that I\u2019m a little nervous, but I\u2019m going to continue to focus on earning good grades and football and basketball.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Freshman (and sophomore) counselor Ms. Marian Finely has some great advice for our freshmen to be successful this year and for the remainder of the school year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDon\u2019t flunk any of your classes,\u201d she said. \u201cAlso, get involved in clubs, and don\u2019t get involved with the wrong group.
