Nine weeks later, he is still receiving treatment for this incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn spite of the accident, I\u2019ve been working as best as I can at my own pace,\u201d Alvarez said. \u201cIf it hadn\u2019t been for the concussion, I would be more caught up with work.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After several weeks of constant schedule changes for seniors, Alvarez said that he is finally breathing a sigh of relief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt has been challenging adjusting seniors\u2019 schedules and to ensure that they are on paths of success,\u201d he said. \u201cThere\u2019s no room to make mistakes with students\u2014especially with seniors earning the necessary credits to graduate in May.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As for the future, Alvarez said he plans to make Pueblo his \u201csecond home\u201d and to continue to monitor his seniors\u2019 destiny to graduate in eight months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also has a personal connection to Pueblo; Alvarez&#8217; son, Gabriel \u201cEscorpi\u00f3n\u201d Alvarez, is a student here at Pueblo and a member of Mariachi Aztl\u00e1n.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Jose Jovel &amp; Estevan Alvarado Mr. Jose Alvarez joins Pueblo High School&#8217;s staff as the senior class counselor with the weight of their success on his shoulders and much to do in his new position.
