Once again, Pueblo High School\u2019s faculty had an opportunity to boast their delectable creations; last quarter, the competition was \u201cchips and salsa\u201d, and this time around, on Dec. 14, faculty members showcased their favorite baked goods in the \u201cDecember Bake-Off\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This contest\u2019s winner, journalism teacher Mr. Rana Medhi, entered his \u201cpineapple upside-down cheesecake\u201d dessert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNot to sound overly confident, but I knew I\u2019d win,\u201d Medhi said. \u201cThis dessert is a family recipe that has been passed down through the generations. It wins at every competition.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Math teacher Ms. Taylor Pacheco, said, \u201cI think Mr. Medhi\u2019s dessert should not have won for having to replace the whipped cream.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pacheco\u2019s dessert, \u201cOreo Balls\u201d, won second place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Third-place winner, librarian Ms. Marsha-Jean Burrola, said, \u201cI\u2019ve seen better days.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Burrola\u2019s dessert was truffles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MTTS Coordinator, Ms. Brenda Levinson-McCune, organized this event, although she said that it was Ms. Karla Martinez\u2019 (assistant principal) idea to have a faculty \u201cBake-Off\u201d before the end of the semester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis contest was to celebrate the holidays, but it was a bit of a struggle with everybody so busy with the end of the semester and preparing for Christmas,\u201d Levinson-McCune said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She added that she will continue these food competitions next semester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019d like to organize at least two more contests this school year,\u201d she said. \u201cI would like to have themed contests, but I\u2019m still brainstorming ideas for future events like this.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
