{"id":3779,"date":"2023-12-20T12:39:28","date_gmt":"2023-12-20T19:39:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pueblowarriors.org\/blog\/?p=3779"},"modified":"2023-12-20T12:39:28","modified_gmt":"2023-12-20T19:39:28","slug":"baxter-wally-the-warriors-greatest-rival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pueblowarriors.org\/blog\/2023\/12\/baxter-wally-the-warriors-greatest-rival\/","title":{"rendered":"Baxter: Wally The Warrior\u2019s Greatest Rival"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>By Jose Nagore &amp; Julian Tellez<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/pueblowarriors.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Pueblo-Teacher-Christina-Benitez-With-Baxter.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[3779]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"337\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/pueblowarriors.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Pueblo-Teacher-Christina-Benitez-With-Baxter.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3780\" style=\"width:250px\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Baxter, a two and a half-year-old Boston Terrier, has become a \u201cregular\u201d at Pueblo with his owner, teacher Ms. Christina Benitez, making students and teachers smile throughout the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Baxter was adopted by Benitez back in 2021 and can be found roaming around Pueblo, mainly within Benitez\u2019s Credit Recovery classroom, Room 254.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI love Baxter!\u201d said math teacher Ms. Rhesa Olsen, whose classroom is adjacent to Benitez\u2019 room. \u201cHe is adorable and very comforting!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Benitez, Baxter was at first \u201csmuggled\u201d into Pueblo, but admin liked the idea of Baxter improving morale at Pueblo and allowed him to keep returning. Baxter has been helping students stay positive during his \u201cvisits\u201d ever since.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI like it when Baxter is in the classroom,\u201d said junior Skylese Grajeda, a student in Benitez\u2019 classroom. \u201cHe really makes me feel relaxed in the classroom.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Benitez lost her previous dog after 12 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She said, \u201cI felt lonely without a companion, and I kept going to animal shelters to find a new pet. It wasn\u2019t until I went to Animal Kingdom that I found Baxter.
