On Saturday, February 4th, 2012 the Regional SkillsUSA Fire Competition met at the Rural Metro Fire Training Center here in Tucson. The 40 participants from the region were from the west and east campuses of the JTED Fire Program including 6 from Pueblo’s Fire Program.
The competition included the following events: ropes & knot tying, hose rolling, breathing apparatus timed competition, climbing a ladder with tools in hand and a victim drag with a 200 lb. dummy.
The day culminated with a Fire Fighter Combat Challenge that mixed Pueblo students with JTED students and a very delicious barbeque.

Manuel Cedre & Hector Ortega made a great showing and just missed being in the Top 10.
Congratulations to the Pueblo Fire Science Program! They showed up at the competition with one thing on their minds and that was to put Pueblo Fire on the map. They did it in a big way!
On April 1, 2010, seven Pueblo students participated in the State FEA Conference at Arizona State University: Karen Cheang, Ruth Colores, Karina Lopez, Anabel Martinez, Maria Ramirez, Carlos Spurgeon & Yaritza Villa.

The CTE program has opened a store that will serve the student body with school supplies, spirit items & healthy snacks. They will also sell school shirts and other items designed and made by our very own Graphic Arts Department.
The store will be called Pat’s Place in honor of Patricia Dienz, who is leaving Pueblo after being named Director of High Schools in TUSD.
Many students attended the ribbon cutting ceremony this morning. Patricia was in tears as she told the students how grateful she was for this honor.
Pat’s Place is a work in progress and has been curriculum based since the very beginning. The Business students created a business plan/proposal which was submitted to administration. In order for a student to work in the store they will need to fill out a job application and go through an interview process.
The store will be open from 7:15 a.m. – 2:45 p.m. and it’s located between rooms 172 & 173. Food items will not be sold during lunch periods.
The Pueblo High Robotics Club won big at the Arizona Vex Robotic Tournament this weekend at Sahurita High School.
Pueblo’s “Robotic Asylum” Robotic Club entered four robots in the Operation Desert Duel at Sahurita High School. The team won 1st, 2nd, & 3rd & 8th place of eighteen teams entered. Though the competition was tough, it was made more interesting for our team when we battled each other for the top three spots!
This is our second consecutive year to win the Southern Arizona Vex Tournament, earning an invitation to both the Vex America and Vex World Tournaments. Congratulations to teacher Herman Lathrop and all team members for representing Pueblo!
