Pueblo Students Participate At State FEA Conference

On April 1, 2010, seven Pueblo students participated in the State FEA Conference at Arizona State University: Karen Cheang, Ruth Colores, Karina Lopez, Anabel Martinez, Maria Ramirez, Carlos Spurgeon & Yaritza Villa.

Carlos Spurgeon and Yaritza Villa received certificates of event participation for their entry to the Multi-Media Scrapbook event.

Karina Lopez & Raul Larios received certificates of event participation for their entry to the FEA PSA event.

Pueblo’s FEA chapter received a Bronze Award for Chapter Program of Work for its participation in FEA events throughout the year.

Pueblo’s FEA chapter thanks Maria Bicknell (CTE Chair), Ms. Shapiro and Brian Ortega of Warrior Media, Mr. Robertson, Pueblo’s Administration Team, and TUSD CTE Central staff for their assistance and guidance this year.

Wrestler Nick Gonzalez Wins State Championship

Nick Gonzales was our only Wrestling State Champion during the 2009-2010 season. Nick finished with a 47-1 record and won many tournaments on his way to the state title.

We asked him to summarize his feeling about the season:

It feels good to win state! It’s been my goal ever since I joined this sport. Now that I have a state title, it makes me feel like I’m one of the best wrestlers in Arizona.

Michael Perez Recognized As Player Of The Year

The TucsonCitizen.com website announced their 2010 Boys Basketball High School All-Stars and recognized Senior Michael Perez as their Player Of The Year for the 4A I Division.

He was also named to the First Team All- Conference. Congratulations to him and the basketball team for a great season.

Winter Spirit Assembly 2010

Warriors gathered at the Winter Spirit Assembly to recognize Basketball, Soccer & others. Mariachi Aztlan started things off by playing the National Anthem.

Student & Employees of the Month were also announced by Mrs. Dienz and representatives of State Farm. A big thank you to them for their generosity.

Performance highlights included Ixora, Warrior Drumline and Spirit Woman. The 2010 Senior class was once again victorious of the Spirit Stick. That’s two in a row for them.

All classes were wearing different colors to represent different causes. Donation quantities were announced and Seniors donated the most to Cancer Research. Everyone wins in this activity. Way to go Warriors!

Pueblo Robotics Team Wins Again

The Pueblo High Robotics Club won big at the Arizona Vex Robotic Tournament this weekend at Sahurita High School.

Pueblo’s “Robotic Asylum” Robotic Club entered four robots in the Operation Desert Duel at Sahurita High School. The team won 1st, 2nd, & 3rd & 8th place of eighteen teams entered. Though the competition was tough, it was made more interesting for our team when we battled each other for the top three spots!

This is our second consecutive year to win the Southern Arizona Vex Tournament, earning an invitation to both the Vex America and Vex World Tournaments. Congratulations to teacher Herman Lathrop and all team members for representing Pueblo!

All Tournament Team For Michael Perez

Michael Perez Hispanic ClassicMichael participated in the 2009 Tommy Nunez National Hispanic Basketball Classic held in Phoenix over the Labor Day weekend.

Michael played with Arvizu promotions which consisted of coaches and five players from North High School. The rest of the team were Middle School Aged Kids. The High School Division consisted of Teams from AZ, CA, TX and GA.

Michael’s Team won the tournament and he was awarded All Tournament. Attached is a picture of Michael and his award.
